Orcs

From Irontide Fantasy Roleplay

Orcs are big, green, and built for one thing: fightin’. They don’t farm, they don’t trade, they don’t think about tomorrow. They just grow out of the ground when enough of ’em have died nearby, grab the nearest choppa, and start lookin’ for somethin’ to smash. When enough of them get together, the Waaagh! starts: a tidal wave of green muscle, bad tempers, and ramshackle war machines that rolls over everything until it finally smashes into something hard enough to stop it (usually a mountain, or Grimgor).

Overview

If you want to play a walking natural disaster who solves every problem by hitting it very hard and shouting “WAAAGH!” until the problem stops moving, congratulations, you’re an Orc.

Appearance

Green skin thick as old leather, muscles like sacks of cannonballs, shoulders wider than a wagon. Tusks the size of daggers, red piggy eyes, and a grin that says “I’m gonna enjoy this”. Armour is whatever they looted last, bolted together with nails and hope. Black Orcs wear proper heavy black plate and look like walking siege engines.

Culture & Society

  • Regions: Anywhere there’s fighting to be had.
  • Culture: Might makes right. Everything else is for goblins.
  • Names: Grimgor, Gorbad, Azhag, Urgok, Skarsnik (he’s a goblin but we let him think he’s important).
  • Religion: Gork and Mork. One smashes ya face in, the other smashes ya from behind. Perfect.

Morality, Slavery, and Corruption

  • Slavery: Rarely practiced, as Orcs are anarchic and fungoid. Captives may be forced into temporary labor, but Orcs do not have structured slavery systems.
  • Non-consent sexual relationships: Largely irrelevant in canon Warhammer Fantasy. Orcs reproduce asexually, and sexual behavior is opportunistic and tied to dominance rather than morality.
  • Vulnerability to Chaos corruption: Moderate. Orcs are naturally violent and aggressive, and while this makes them prone to certain chaotic influences, their brutish focus on survival and combat gives them resilience to subtle corruption.

Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Strengths: Strong, tough, fearless, and brutal; thrive in combat and chaotic environments; highly resilient to pain and hardship.
  • Weaknesses: Uncivilized, impulsive, easily distracted by fighting, and often disorganized; limited long-term planning or subtlety.

Playing an Orc

You don’t have an inner monologue, you have an outer monologue and it’s always loud. Speech is simple: “Dis is mine now”, “Dat looks fighty”, “WAAAGH!”. Problems are solved with choppas, bigger choppas, or two choppas. If something isn’t fun to fight, it’s boring and needs smashing until it becomes fun. A Warboss leads by being the biggest and meanest; a Shaman just shouts at Gork and Mork until lightning happens.

Physical Appearance

Imagine a gorilla that ate nothing but violence and grew tusks. Now paint it green and give it a bad attitude. That’s the small one.

Gender Roles & Sexuality

Gender Roles

  • Orc society is essentially all-male and tribal. They are fungoid in nature, reproducing asexually without the need for females. Warbands, tribes, and clans consist entirely of males, all competing for strength, dominance, and survival.
  • Leadership: Male Orcs dominate leadership and combat roles. Status is earned through strength, cunning, and ability to inspire fear, not inheritance or formal hierarchy.
  • Commoners: All Orcs are expected to fight, raid, and survive harsh environments. There is no formal distinction between roles based on “gender,” since all Orcs are biologically similar and male-acting.

Sexuality

  • Sexuality in Orc society is largely irrelevant, given their asexual reproduction. Any sexual behavior is rare, opportunistic, or purely fantasy-based in stories.
  • Mating and reproduction occur magically/biologically without female participation. Orcs’ focus is entirely on combat, raiding, and survival.
  • Social bonds are primarily based on hierarchy, dominance, and mutual respect among fighters, not sexual or romantic attraction.

Attitudes toward Other Races (Sexualized)

  • Orcs generally view other races as prey, rivals, or enemies. Sexualized perceptions of other races are almost entirely **nonexistent** in canon lore.
  • Humans: Humans are primarily viewed as enemies or loot; sexualized behavior is not part of official Orc culture.
  • Elves: Elves are admired or feared for skill and agility, but not sexualized.
  • Dwarfs: Dwarfs are mocked or feared for toughness; sexualized depictions are non-canonical.
  • Greenskins: Orcs interact with goblins or other greenskins in social hierarchies, dominance displays, and raids, not sexual contexts.
  • Any sexualized behavior in Orc-related tales is typically fan-created or humorous, not canon.

Notable Cultural Nuances

  • Orc society is entirely focused on strength, combat, and survival.
  • Reproduction is asexual, and there are no females participating in society, warbands, or leadership.
  • Social bonds are based on dominance, fear, and mutual respect rather than sex or romance.
  • Orc culture is anarchic, aggressive, and communal, with humor and brutality defining their interactions rather than sexuality.
