Getting Started

From Irontide Fantasy Roleplay

Getting Started

This guide covers the first steps after joining Irontide, from verification to character setup and the basic expectations for roleplay and PvP. For deeper mechanics, see the linked guides at the end.

Step 1: Verification

The first thing you will see when logging into the server is the in-game verification process. This links your Steam ID with your Discord ID.

Important:

  • Make sure you have enabled the Discord privacy setting Allow direct messages from server members for the Irontide Discord.
  • The verification bot must be able to DM you in order to complete the link process.

General flow:

  • Join the server in-game
  • Follow the on-screen verification instructions
  • Complete the Discord DM step from the verification bot
  • Once verified, you will gain full access

If verification fails:

  • Double-check the Discord DM setting
  • If needed, open a general support ticket and mention "Verification"

Step 2: Choose a Character Slot (Save Slots)

Irontide provides three character slots. These are save slots.

  • Select which slot you want to use before creating your character
  • Each slot stores its own character progression and data

Step 3: Character Creation (Race, Class, Career)

Race Selection

Choose your race first.

  • Read the race information before committing
  • Some races have restrictions that affect customization and gameplay

See:

  • Races (Race list and restrictions)

Class Selection

After selecting a race, select your class.

  • Not all races can be all classes

See:

  • Classes (Class list and restrictions)

Career Selection

After entering the game, you will also choose a career.

  • Not all classes can be all careers
  • Career choice is not always finalized at the exact same stage as race and class selection, depending on the system flow

See:

  • Careers (Career list and restrictions)

Naming Guidelines

Once your race and class are picked, choose a lore-friendly name.

Basic expectations:

  • Avoid modern references and joke names
  • Avoid names that clash with the setting tone
  • If you are unsure, ask in the lore channels or open a ticket

Lore Help and Questions

If you need help with lore, use:

  • Warhammer Wiki (reference tool)
  • Discord lore discussion channels
  • Open a general ticket and use the lore tag

Step 4: Character Customization (Shift + B)

After you spawn in, customize your character using the ToT! Custom menu.

  • Press Shift + B to open customization
  • Adjust physical attributes and appearance
  • Customize the look of armor and weapons
  • Add accessories

Notes:

  • There are racial restrictions to some ToT sliders
  • These restrictions are listed on the race information page

Step 5: Disguise and Act Name

You may select one act name to use in-game.

Rules for act names:

  • Must reflect your race
  • Must reflect your class
  • Must include a unique identifier

Example:

  • Imperial Crimson Guardian

How it works:

  • Use the /disguise command to set and activate your act name
  • Once chosen, you are locked into it for at least two weeks
  • To change your /disguise name, open a ticket

Assassin subclass exception:

  • After using /disguise for the first time, Assassins unlock /act
  • Assassins may use unlimited /act names and do not require a ticket to change /act names
  • If an Assassin wants an act name that breaks the criteria above, they must open a ticket for approval

Basic Roleplay Guidelines

Irontide is roleplay-first. Your character should act consistently with the setting and with consequences in mind.

General expectations:

  • Stay in character in roleplay spaces
  • Avoid metagaming and using out-of-character info in-character
  • Keep conflict roleplayable and avoid forcing outcomes
  • Respect other players' scenes and give room for responses

See:

Basic PvP Guidelines

PvP is supported and expected, but it must stay within server rules and the intended systems.

General expectations:

  • Know the Down System and what "revive", "finish", and injuries mean
  • Do not use exploits, griefing, or OOC harassment
  • Follow the declared war, raid, and claim systems when applicable
